GFI Details for Registered Students

Conference Details

The Go For It (GFI) Conference, which occurs annually over Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend, is a three-day inspirational and motivational character development conference that builds servant leaders through a focus on introspective reflection, personal discovery, and skills development. Through in-depth guided discussion, small group activities, and team building, teens hone leadership skills and explore their own values away from the pressures of their daily lives.

In a rare space where teens can truly be themselves, students have fun, forge lasting bonds with peers from throughout the Commonwealth, and return to their communities better prepared to be effective servant leaders in their home, school, and community.

If you have additional questions or do not receive the pre-conference email a week prior to conference, please reach out to nicole@kyymca.org.

Program FAQ

Q: What is included in the cost of GFI?

In addition to the overall program experience, the in-person conference fees will include:

  • Program materials
  • Meals during the conference
  • Lodging
  • Conference Shirt

Students will be sent a reminder confirmation email one week prior to conference with details such as pack list, directions and more!

Q: What if I have registered and paid but can no longer attend?

In the event you need to cancel your registration, please visit the GFI Refund Policy Page for our policies and procedures.

Q: What if I need transportation to the camp?

Contact nicole@kyymca.org.  She will attempt to arrange transportation with other students in your area.

Q: What if I get sick at the conference?

It is the policy of the Kentucky YMCA Youth Association that if a student gets sick more than twice, they will need to leave the conference.  If a Y staff member feels the two times were not related to food or nerves, then we recommend they go home, but it is overall the parent/guardian and Y Staff member’s decision.  At any time if a student has a fever they must be sent home.  If a student cannot be picked up immediately due to distance, the Y Staff will try to move them or their roommates to another room in order to not spread illness.

Q: What if I have additional questions?
