WHO WE ARE

For over a century, the YMCA has been devoted to the development of teens with strong minds, bodies, and spirits. This national movement has inspired the creation of YMCA Youth and Government Programs in over forty states throughout the country.

Kentucky is home to our nation's largest teen-serving YMCA. Founded in 1890, the Kentucky YMCA has set the national example for the promotion of civic engagement, service learning, servant leadership, and character development among teenagers.

WHAT WE DO

Fall/Winter

KENTUCKY YOUTH ASSEMBLY (KYA)

A three day, hands-on experience of Kentucky's state government. KYA is a student-led conference in which teens experience first-hand what it's like to debate a bill in the capitol chambers, run for state office or argue a case in the State Supreme Court.

GO FOR IT! (GFI)

A long weekend of inspiration and motivation in which teens develop character and a sense of self-worth through open communication with peers from across Kentucky.

Spring/Summer

KENTUCKY UNITED NATIONS ASSEMBLY (KUNA)

A three day experience in diplomacy that encouragesunderstanding and appreciation for our global community. Students confront international issues and offer solutions, celebrate cultural diversity and increase their sense of humanity through role-play as they represent member nations of the UN.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING CONFERENCE (LTC)

A summer celebration in personal growth and character development, LTC helps teens hone leadership skills, clarify values and share the thrill of empowerment while forming lasting bonds with other KY teens.

Year-Round

STUDENT YMCA

The school or community group that serves as the local umbrella for KY YMCA activities and service. Student YMCA encourages all 6-12th graders to participate in the dempcratic process and cultivates a sense of civic duty and social responsibility.

Y-CORPS SERVICE PROGRAM

Student YMCA members in grades 9-12 chosen for this year-round program become local service leaders and network with other Y-CORPS members across the state to affect positive change for Kentucky.
