2020 Leadership Training Conference Cancelled

Dear LTC Participants,

It is with great sadness that the Kentucky YMCA Youth Association has decided to cancel this year’s Leadership Training Conference due to COVID-19-related government youth programming and mass gathering restrictions that will still be in place throughout June. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our participants and while we did not make this decision lightly, we believe it is in the best interest of all potential attendees.

Please know we share deeply the disappointment you must feel. Our staff is also saddened by this outcome, but we are working hard to ensure we can still serve Kentucky’s teens from afar.

We realize you may have questions, and they will be answered. Some anticipated questions are below:

Will there be a virtual LTC?
Right now our staff is working very hard to determine what an LTC alternative will look like. We have hosted student focus groups to get ideas and will continue to include student input. We would love for you to help us decide what that will be by completing the following short survey: www.surveymonkey.com/r/KW95MD3

Will I receive a refund?*
Per our stated policy, all registered participants will receive a refund of the full registration cost minus $10. This amount is to simply cover administrative costs required to process and complete send your refund.
*If you registered before April 15, 2020 you will receive another email.

I am really sad or unhappy about this, how do I channel that energy?
Please remember the purpose of this program is to develop personal growth and servant leadership, and that can still be done in your own backyards. Being a servant leader in your community is the heart of the KYYMCA and we are deeply proud of the teens who join LTC each year to invest in themselves, their peers, and the Commonwealth. Responding to adversity is something every leader needs practice in, so we encourage you to use this as an opportunity to serve where you can. Challenge yourself and others to respond with a renewed purpose to improve the lives of those around you. If you have participated in GFI or LTC before, reach out to your old Y-Pals to check in on them. Ask how they are doing and share updates on each other’s lives. From this, we will grow stronger together. No matter what, we all share in the tradition of this program, and will continue to do so.

As we develop alternatives, we will keep you informed. We wish you and your families good health and safety. As always, feel free to reach out if we can be of service in any way.

Yours In Service,

Y-Staff
