What is LTC?

The Leadership Training Conference is an inspirational and motivational experience that builds authentic leaders through a focus on personal discovery and skills development. For four days, participants can unplug, step back from their daily lives, and be themselves in the company of people their age from around Kentucky. At times silly, at times serious, the program focuses on giving young people time to reflect, laugh and be with one another. Through in-depth guided discussion, small group activities, and team building, teens hone leadership skills and explore their own values away from the constant pressures of modern life.

In a rare space where teens can truly be at home with themselves, participants have fun, forge lasting bonds with peers from throughout the Commonwealth and return home better prepared to be effective servant leaders in their home, school and community.

"They have instilled a sense of belief in me. I am able to stand up for myself after LTC. I believe I can do anything I put my mind to." – Past LTC participant

Who should attend LTC?

Students in grades six through twelve who are interested in learning more about themselves, becoming better leaders, making friends, having fun with amazing people from all over the state should attend LTC! We will have two parallel conferences: Junior LTC for students who have completed grades six to eight, and Senior LTC for students who have completed grades nine to twelve. Unlike the Youth Assembly or Model U.N., students do not attend LTC as a group with an advisor from the school. Students register and attend LTC individually. The program curriculum includes:

  • Understanding your leadership style
  • Building and strengthening relationships
  • Leading in daily life
  • Translating beliefs into action
  • Exploring self
  • Fun and games

"LTC inspires people to think, to feel, to be true to one’s values, to search for truth, and to embark on a journey of self discovery and life-long growth." – Past LTC participant

Where will LTC be held?

LTC will be held at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, KY. This campus offers a scenic and comfortable setting for our weekend experience. The Y may be able to help you coordinate your transportation. Students will be sent a map and a “what to bring” confirmation letter one week prior to the conference.
