2010 Kentucky Youth Assembly Dates:

November 18-20, East Junior KYA

November 21-23, East Senior KYA

December 5-7, West Senior KYA

December 9-11, Central Junior KYA

December 12-14, West Junior KYA

 

In Three Days You Can:

 ~Share your ideas and opinions

~Run for state office

~Lobby for or against a bill

~Present a case before student justices

~Broadcast a news report

~ Get down at the dance

~Meet Kentucky's coolest teens

Students can choose from several roles:

~Legislator/Bill Author- present and debate the important issues facing our state and nation

~Supreme Court Advocate- argue a real case before student justices (Senior Only)

~Elected Official- serve as Governor, Chief Justice, Speaker of the House, or another important executive leader at KYA

~Other Opportunities- students can also serve as clerks, lobbyists, or media corps members

All KYA Conferences will be housed at the Crown Plaza Holiday Inn (formerly the Executive West Hotel) in Louisville, Kentucky

Conference fee includes transportation to the state Capitol in Frankfort on day 2 of conference.

 

 Students in grades 6-8 may attend Junior KYA.

Students in grades 9-12 may attend Senior KYA.

Which KYA Should You Attend? Senior KYA or Junior KYA

THE KENTUCKY YMCA WILL NOT ACCEPT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE APPLICATIONS FOR KYA AFTER THE October 6th DEADLINE!

KYA is student run, but adult Y staff members, teachers, and parent advisors are always present to keep the students on task and constantly ensure order and safety.
